📍 VIC
This peninsula park, three hours' drive east of Melbourne, protects Gippsland's natural jewels: Squeaky Beach with its distinctive quartz sands, and the secluded paradise of Sealers Cove accessible via a 10km return hike through warm temperate rainforest. Mount Oberon offers a moderately challenging sunset route with spectacular views, while the Southern Prom Circuit—a three to five-day trail—winds through diverse ecosystems to the sublime eastern shores. Wombats, kangaroos and emus roam the park, and more than 20 child-suitable short trails make it family-friendly. Wildlife and ample protected beaches draw hikers, swimmers and naturalists year-round.
