About Whitsunday Islands National Park
Whitsunday Islands National Park encompasses 74 islands in the Great Barrier Reef and is located 920 kilometres northwest of Brisbane. The park is world-famous for Whitehaven Beach, a six-kilometre stretch featuring pure-white silica sand and crystal-clear waters. Access is by private or commercial boat from Airlie Beach or Shute Harbour.

A very beautiful place. Especially Lookout Beach, where you can spend nice time wading through shallow, crystal-clear warm water or simply relaxing on the white sand in the shade at the edge of the forest. The little white fish are quite funny too - if you shuffle your feet through the sandy bottom, they quickly swim over to investigate. I think that visiting this place as part of an organised tour like we did is definitely not enough to truly relax here. In my opinion, it would be much better to come here on your own by sailboat, yacht etc., so there is no need to rush. That would probably also give you the chance to visit some of the less crowded beaches, which may be even nicer.

All of the islands of the Whitsundays are managed to an international standard by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park offices. They are polite and courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. All of the barbecue areas walking trails and information along the way is outstanding and is it a must for anyone who wants to come and see this beautiful part of the world.

The water is so clean, clear and takes 10 min walk with steps (not that’s bad) to see a beautiful ocean view and a bottle tree with two babies string fishes. It was a nice day to visit the Whitsunday Islands.

Just beautiful! We took ferry tour, however I think a flight over this beautiful spot would be worth splurging. Just to see the white sand and the clear blue water. Tips: May was a bit too cold. And make sure to take something for sea sickness. Our ride there was quite choppy. Enjoy the white sand beach where the treasure chest scene of Pirates of the Caribbean movie was filmed.

Totally fall in love with whiteheaven beach … it paradise … more nice when there’s no turist there . Cause the beach is full since 10:00 until 4.00 .. all the turist are all over the place .. highly recommended to anchorage in the next bay .. if you can be in a private boat 🛥 . The water is so clean .. there’s no garbage around . A lot of fish … the sand is white , the air is clean … you will feel really in heaven . Thanks so much to Australian national parks for taking care of all the Amazon places in this beautiful land . Australia 🇦🇺❤️
