About Warby-Ovens National Park
Warby-Ovens National Park spans 56 square miles approximately 10 kilometres west of Wangaratta, featuring three distinct vegetation communities: the Warby Range's granitic hills and woodlands, Box-Ironbark forest and River Red Gum wetlands along the heritage-listed Ovens River. The park is significant for threatened bird species including the Swift Parrot, Hooded Robin and Speckled Warbler, and holds the distinction of being only the fourth Australian site on the IUCN Green List. Recreational opportunities include hiking, rock climbing, bird watching and still-water canoeing on the Ovens River, with the park forming part of the traditional country of the Yorta Yorta Peoples.
