Loved this piece of natural formation. Its soo mesmerizing. Would be lovely to visit I'm later evening when the sunlight falls on it directly..however if you wish to do the trail its better to visit about 2 hours before sunset. The trail is quite okay but it leads to the hippo yawn which is quite nice rock formation.

We stayed at Wave Rock Resort which has a salt bath pool and lake. Accommodation was affordable and comfortable. Walking paths to both Wave Rock and Hippo's Yawn are level and suitable for most fitness levels. A good place to stop between Perth and Esperance.

Visiting Wave Rock is one of the most unique experiences you can have when travelling through regional Western Australia. Located near the small town of Hyden, this incredible natural rock formation attracts visitors from all over the world because of its unusual shape and fascinating history. The first time you see Wave Rock, it really does look like a giant ocean wave frozen in time. The massive granite formation rises about 15 meters high and stretches for around 100 meters, creating the perfect curved shape of a breaking wave. It’s amazing to think that this natural structure was formed millions of years ago through erosion and weathering. The smooth curves and natural lines make it one of the most photographed landmarks in Western Australia. Walking along the base of the rock gives you a true sense of its size. From up close, the texture and colours of the rock become more visible, with shades of grey, brown, and orange creating a beautiful natural pattern. Many visitors also walk up to the top of the rock, where you can see the surrounding landscape stretching far into the distance. The area around Wave Rock is also peaceful and well maintained. There are walking paths, picnic spots, and information boards explaining the geology and cultural importance of the site. Nearby attractions like Hippo’s Yawn and the wildlife park also make the visit even more enjoyable if you want to spend a little more time exploring. Overall, Wave Rock is a fascinating natural attraction that truly lives up to its reputation. Its unusual shape, beautiful surroundings, and geological history make it a memorable stop for anyone exploring Western Australia.

Although it is 350km away from Perth but its is worth a visit. This gigantic rock , 15m high and 100m long, was formed by water around 2.7bln years ago and looks like a giant wave ! You can walk along it or even go up and see the wide australian landscape from there. There is a 15$ fee for a car ip to 4 people.

Unique rock formation. A must stop if you are driving between Perth and Esperence. Parking $15 per vehicle. Short walk to the base of the rock. In the car park it felt very hot and humid. But base of the rock and on the top of the rock is not that bad. There is a cafe nearby.
