This was a great stop on our NSW road trip. The views over the coastline were beautiful, and it was interesting to learn about the history of the area. It’s a nice, quick stop that’s well worth adding to your itinerary if you’re visiting Newcastle. Definitely worth taking a few minutes to explore and enjoy the scenery

Honestly the best Natural Ocean Pool I've ever been too, long walk down tho but totally worth it.... But it's one hell of a walk back up, definitely not for the weak. If your ok with lots of steps, then you'll be fine, the views are spectacular

The Bogey Hole in Newcastle is one of the most unique and iconic coastal landmarks in the city. Carved directly into the natural rock along the shoreline, this historic ocean bath has an incredible atmosphere and offers a truly special experience. It’s fascinating to see how the powerful waves of the Pacific Ocean crash against the surrounding rocks and sometimes splash into the pool itself. The interaction between the sea, the stone, and the natural landscape makes this place feel both wild and beautiful at the same time. What makes the Bogey Hole particularly impressive is its simplicity and authenticity. Unlike modern swimming facilities, it feels very natural and connected to the ocean. Watching the waves roll in and break against the rocks while standing next to the pool is almost mesmerizing. It’s also a fantastic place for photography, especially during sunrise or when the sea is a bit rough and the water dramatically hits the rocks. At the same time, visitors should be cautious, as the rocks can be slippery and the ocean conditions sometimes strong. But if you take your time and enjoy the scenery, it’s a wonderful place to relax, take in the ocean air, and experience a piece of Newcastle’s coastal history. Overall, the Bogey Hole is a beautiful and historic landmark that perfectly captures the raw charm of Newcastle’s coastline. Anyone visiting the city should definitely stop by and experience this remarkable spot.

Fabulous natural spa bath, fizzing as the waves come in over the wall. Shallow enough to stand on the bottom. Very little dry space to leave bags etc, though most people seemed to come and go fairly quickly. Bonus watching the paragliders soaring along the cliff updafts. Very enjoyable.
