Steamers Beach lies within Booderee National Park near Jervis Bay, accessed via a half-hour walk from the car park that descends steeply over the final stretch to the wide, exposed beach. The beach is known for strong surf, rips and permanent currents making it hazardous for swimming. Camping is available within the park, though sites are often booked well in advance, particularly during summer months and weekends. The access is not suitable for people with accessibility needs.
