About South Gorge Beach

South Gorge Beach on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) is a spectacular 70-metre sandy pocket guarded by towering cliff faces, accessed by a 25-minute passenger ferry from Cleveland in Brisbane's southern suburbs. The stunning Gorge Walk hugs the rocky headland coastline with excellent whale-watching (June-November) and frequent sightings of sea turtles, manta rays and dolphins. The beach offers showers, toilets and changing facilities with lifeguards present, though strong permanent rips and surrounding rocks require caution in deeper water.
