Shoalhaven Zoo Camping Reserve in North Nowra offers a rustic camping experience set on flat ground beneath shaded trees with waterfront views, located right outside the Shoalhaven Zoo gates. The reserve features toilet blocks, hot showers, laundry facilities, a cafe, kiosk, playground and BBQ areas. Bookings are required with check-in before 5pm; the reserve has limited weekend and school holiday availability. Pets are not permitted.

The keeper was lovely and informative, the animals were interesting to see, however, the enclosures were pitiful. The enclosures were so incredibly cramped and tiny that many of the animals were pacing back and forth for hours - the wombats, maned wolf, and the crocodile enclosure was so small they couldn’t move. I understand crocodiles wait for their prey and wait still to attack but there were two crocodiles cramped together and the tank was too small for them to even stay horizontal in the water. I have seen bigger enclosures for pet macaws in someone’s yard than here, they can barely move. The enclosures were muddy with no grass and not enough food, for the wallabies in particular they NEED to be eating throughout the day, they had no food and were sitting in the mud with nothing to eat. Side note: the path was just mud, understandably they can’t control the weather but an alternative path would be more suitable for elderly or the disabled as it was slippery. Overall, the zoo prioritises the viewing for people having the animals cramped so you’re forced to see them rather than the welfare of their animals which is appalling. I won’t be coming again.

I loved this place. Small enough to see everything in one day and large enough that everything is spread out for safety. This privately owned and run Zoo is a delight to visit

Hidden Gem! I will def go back and camp close to the Zoo and go again to the zoo with the little ones! The cafe also offers some really good food and great Coffee and not expensive!

Loved it. The rainforest walk was amazing. My teenage children loved it. Didn't go on the hanging rock walk, saving that for our next visit. Was weird seeing a cute little dog on display though. I hope they liked their pats from us.

Great family Zoo bring my boys all the time their teams work hard in maintaining everything super great location on the river can camp next door $20 per person per night cant recommend the zoo enough exceptional place little walking tracks its amazing. Had my sons bday yesterday cake kept in fridge large undercover seating area for lunch was perfect. Thank you be back again soon.
