The Rock in Mulgoa is one of those hidden gems that really rewards the effort of getting there. Tucked away in a peaceful, rural setting, it offers spectacular panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. The scenery is absolutely stunning β wide open skies, rolling landscapes, and a real sense of calm thatβs hard to find so close to Sydney. The walk up is fairly straightforward and adds to the experience, building anticipation as you reach the top. Once there, itβs the kind of spot where youβll want to pause, take photos, and soak it all in. That said, itβs important to be aware that there is very little in the way of fencing or safety railings at the summit. The edges are exposed, so you need to take extra care, particularly if youβre with children or visiting in windy or wet conditions. Good footwear and a bit of caution go a long way here. Overall, The Rock at Mulgoa is a fantastic lookout with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere β just be mindful of the natural, unfenced environment so you can enjoy it safely.

A gorgeous view in a quiet place. There are quite a few steep stairs so be prepared for that!

This is a beautiful spot to sit and relax, especially when the weather is mild. The views are breathtaking. Nepean River can be seen flowing gently between the mountains. The words won't do much justice on the beauty of the spot, one has to experience it. Highly recommended.

Great place to visit, be careful of your step though. There are no tickets to purchase, but it does require a bit of a trip down a long diet road to get there and then a short hike though the bush... Worth it for the views though!

I visited this lookout recently and was blown away by the views - the valley and river stretch out endlessly, framed by bushland and distant mountain ridges. Getting there does take a bit of care though; the last 2.8 kilometres are along a gravel road with some rough patches, so I took it slow. Once you arrive, the rock itself feels wild and untouched - no fences, no safety rails, just nature at its rawest. Itβs definitely not a place for kids or anyone uneasy with heights, but for those who enjoy a bit of adventure, itβs an incredible, peaceful spot to take in the scenery.
