About Reservoir Lookout
Myponga Reservoir Lookout sits above the dam wall on the Fleurieu Peninsula, one hour south of Adelaide. The scenic viewing platform offers panoramic views across the reservoir and its spillway across 250 hectares of water. Walking trails suit families, with free parking, toilets and picnic facilities available. Shore-based fishing and canoe or kayak paddling are popular activities. Open 7:30am—5pm standard time, extending to 8pm during daylight saving, the lookout provides peaceful natural refuge for walking, running and contemplative views of the reservoir landscape.

I have lived in Adelaide my whole life and never visited the Myponga Reservoir before. I should have. It's gorgeous. As we rounded the corner and I saw the reservoir in the distance I gasped, I thought it was so beautiful. The slow drive across the reservoir wall was a lovely experience, then the view from the lookout was really special. Well worth any detour to have a look. Hard to capture the true beauty in a photo but I gave it a whirl.

The view from the lookout is picturesque. There’s ample enough parking spots. The environment is calm and quiet. I would say peaceful. You can take a drive on the banks of the dam too. However large vehicles have restrictions. There are a lot of people coming to visit the dam. The day we went, the water levels were a little high due to rain during the week.
