I recently visited Remarkable Cave near Port Arthur Historic Site, and it was honestly breathtaking. The walk down is short but steep, and once you get there, the view is just incredible. The cave naturally forms a shape that looks like a map of Tasmania, which makes it even more unique. The sound of the waves crashing through it and the fresh ocean air made the whole experience really peaceful. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area.

A short walk from the car park with a nice lookout right at the start. If you’re already visiting Port Arthur, it’s only about a 15‑minute drive from the historic site, so it’s an easy add‑on. There are stairs you’ll need to walk down to reach the main viewpoint. There isn’t a lot to see, but spending ten minutes here for a quick photo stop is totally fine.

Located at 7182/446 Safety Cove Road, Port Arthur, Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺 This is a beautiful spot. The views over the ocean from the lookout (Manson Lookout) are spectacular, regardless of the weather. From the lookout, there is 112 steps down to the Remarkable cave. This is evidently not for people with mobility issues. The steps are quite steep also. But if you’re able, the climb down and back up is well worth it. The cave itself today is a deep rock bridge carved out of the sandstone cliff face but it was once a deep cave. The viewing platform where you stand to see the cave is where the back of the cave collapsed. There are fences up to stop 🛑 people from climbing over and walking into the cave but this doesn’t stop some people. One of the people who was down there with me climbed over when we were there. The cave has a dangerous swell and surging currents when the tide is high. At low tide, it’s considered safe to walk through the cave. With the visit down to the cave and the lookout, this is a really lovely spot. There’s ample parking 🅿️ and also toilet 🚻 facilities. Thumbs up!! 👍👍👍

I'm glad our tour guide gave us an option to visit here after visiting the port Arthur site. when you get to the front of the cave, 150+ steps down, you get super cold air blowing. the surf you see at the top is amazing and it really looks more amazing in person than in picture.
