About Mount William National Park
Mount William National Park is a pristine 18,439 hectare reserve on Tasmania's far North-East Coast at the northern end of the Bay of Fires, most easily reached from Launceston 166 kilometres away. The windswept coastline features rocky outcrops marked with bright orange lichen and powder-white sand against crystal-clear turquoise water, with the park named after a 216-metre hill at its summit. Established in 1973 to protect Forester kangaroo habitat, the park is home to abundant marsupials including kangaroos, wombats, wallabies and echidnas, plus over 100 bird species.
