Mount Bruce in Karijini National Park in the Pilbara is Western Australia's second-highest peak at approximately 1,235 metres. Three walking options provide different views: the Marandoo View lookout (30 minutes return, 500 metres) overlooks the Marandoo mine; the Honey Hakea track extends from Marandoo View for another 1.8 kilometres (4.6 km return trip); and the Summit Trail (Grade 5, 9–9.5 km return, 3–6 hours) climbs to the peak with steep sections and rock scrambles, offering views of the Hamersley Range. June to August offer the best climbing conditions; avoid October to March when daytime temperatures reach 35–45 degrees Celsius. Start early and bring plenty of water.
