π TAS
Tasmania's tallest permanent waterfall at 104 metres, Montezuma Falls cascades through rainforest on the West Coast Range along the historic route of the North East Dundas Tramway. An easy three-hour return walk from Williamsford (two km south of Rosebery) takes you through park-like rainforest of leatherwood, myrtle and giant tree ferns on a level track to the base of the falls. The falls were named after the Aztec emperor by miners who worked the Montezuma Silver Mining Company in the 1891 area, adding a layer of historical interest to this rainforest destination.
