π Middle Swan, WA
Mettams Pool is a naturally formed lagoon with rock formations that create a sheltered tidal pool on Perth's northern coastline. The pool was shaped starting in the 1930s by WWI veteran Frank Mettam, who manually chipped away at the limestone reef using explosives and a crowbar. The lagoon is less than two metres deep and contains fish species, particularly in the holes and crevices in the southern section. The beach is backed by grassed areas and pine trees, with amenities including parking, showers and a playground.
