About Kondalilla National Park

Kondalilla National Park, located 103km north of Brisbane, features the spectacular Kondalilla Falls where Skene Creek cascades 90 metres into a rainforest valley. The name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning 'running water.' A 4.8km circuit track winds through subtropical rainforest to rock pools and viewpoints, allowing 1.5 to 2 hours. The park is home to native wildlife including pademelons, giant barred frogs, and bird species like the wompoo fruit-dove.

A beautiful walk. The easiest way for seniors is to go down to the left after the first bridge crossing, down to the Rockpool small waterfall then continue on to the bottom of the gorge. Come back up the same way. The other way is very hard and tricky. Recommend a walking pole and good walking shoes.

It’s a beautiful walk in the rainforest. From the carpark it’s a short walk down to the picnic tables area, and then another 7-8mins walk to the picnic creek waterfalls. It’s doable with kids below 8years, the pathway is proper tar ground. From the picnic creek onwards it’s natural ground, with small stones certain paths. You will come to downward slopes to either the Rockpools or further down (steep steps) to the lookout for the Kondalilla falls. The view from lookout is stunning. You can continue on from the lookout for a circuit. Or make a turn back to the entrance. If you do this, it takes around 1.5hours. Came here on a rainy day. It was pouring, and misty, but also means the falls were roaring majestic !

It's a nice walk, can be steep in places however there's a number of benches to take a rest. The pool below the falls is very popular so can be a little crowded. There's 4 or 5 sheltered tables and BBQ's if you're looking for a picnic.

This is my favourite hiking trail to do! The walks are all signed so you are confident in with direction to take, there are multiple options depending on whether you want to hike or just swim, and most of the paths are deep under the rainforest like cover so it doesn’t get too hot. The swimming hole is fantastic though does get a little crowded in the middle of summer! There are toilets and picnic space at the start of the trails so it really is perfect for anyone 🙌
