Went for my usual 7am morning walk on the 6th of June, and as I was walking down the hill, my shoe got caught on a piece of driftwood. As I tumbled down, I saw for a split second a glimpse of the emerald green/celestial blue, firey underworld, just like in the Disney movie Hercules! Totally would recommend this hidden gem of a spot to anyone I come across!

This is a fair walk and you don't know what you're going to get at the end of it. About a km from the end it splits, creating a loop. I took the high road and found you get a view of the other side of the peninsula. The end was dramatic, but I felt like I couldn't get a good enough look without risking my life. I'd like to see it from a boat.

Worth the walk. Nice views. We parked near Alexandria bay (see google maps photo), so it wasnt too far a walk. You can go via the beach or inland.

After the Fairy Pools take a short walk up the path to see Hell’s Gates and take in the view. There is a fairy pool here but it is not easily accessible (jagged cliff scaling which could be very dangerous, especially if wet) so I can see why it’s not encouraged. Walk back to the town either through the forest or the coastal trail.
