Lovely place with a truly stunning sea view, especially with the lighthouse as a backdrop. 🏖️🌊 Griffiths Island is also a fantastic spot for bird lovers. You can see many short-tailed shearwaters (mutton birds) that migrate 15,000+ km from Alaska. The best time to spot them is between late September and mid-April. A peaceful, scenic place that’s well worth a visit.

Visited to see the sunrise. It was fairly cold and windy in the beginning of December, so I was glad to have a coat and warm blanket to wrap around myself. A small rotunda at the carpark has information about the island and its history. No bathrooms. There’s a bench near the lighthouse to relax and take in the view. There’s walk out to the lighthouse was flat and easygoing. Definitely worked up an appetite for a coffee and breakfast while walking there and back to town!

A beautiful flat walk on a wide path will lead you to the lighthouse on Griffiths Island. Absolutely beautiful. I am so pleased we went in this walk. I was surprised by the beautiful scenery and waterholes that we came across. The lighthouse is very photogenic and the area has so much history. Absolutely stunning and well worth a visit! If you are going to continue your way around the island it is important to note that this is not flat. It requires scrambling over rocks and sand dunes while praying you don’t slip! Lots of fun but certainly not for those with mobility issues.
