We 3 had lunch, Trout, Wallaby Patties and Chicken Parmi. Big servings! Excellent meals. Friendly, happy staff. Roaring big open fireplace with a lounge in front, blankets for your knees. The Hot Chocolate was excellent too!

We just attended for Mother's Day lunch. We had a large group and the restaurant was fully booked. We had prompt service, friendly staff where nothing was too much trouble and everyone agreed the food was spot on! Delicious, well presented, plenty of choice and perfect serving size. The atmosphere here is wonderful and with a gorgeous view, the drive up was well worth it.

Driving through the Highlands for a change we decided to lunch at the Great Lakes Hotel. We both had a burger & chips. It would have to be the worst tastless burger we have ever had. One would expect a nice patty at least for $28 each. The table next to us left most of theirs also. Would not recommend πŸ˜•

Very cozy little rooms, the one we had featured a stunning view of the lake. Lovely comfy bed with soft linens. The bathroom is pretty tiny, and you have to crush yourself up in a corner to avoid the shower curtain sticking to you πŸ˜† but I still enjoyed my stay! Unfortunately as it was the Easter long weekend, the hotel restaurant was shut so we went down the road for food. That said, the lovely lady attending the convenience store looked after us and was super pleasant to deal with! Thank you staff :)

On a whim we decided to come back from Devonport to Hobart through the Tassie highland Lakes and stopped at the Great Lakes hotel for lunch on Australia Day. What a great idea that turned out to be. The weather was unusually beautiful, hot, sunny no wind or clouds. The view from the hotel over Great Lake was superb. There's only the highway between the lake and the hotel, and the lake was dead flat - awesome! Not as awesome as the food though. I thought I would spoil myself and gave the Eye Fillet Steak with salad and chips - WOW πŸ‘Œ I've posted the photos of the steak, it was cooked a perfect medium, chared a bit on the outside like it should be, but moist and tender all the way through! Biggest eye fillet ive had for years and absolutely enjoyable. The chips were great, not those horrible soggy "steak chips" you get most places and HOT. The salad was coleslaw, which the waiter told us (Yes, table service!) but one of the best pub coleslaw I've had. Not just soggy cabbage with too much Mayo. It had lots of extras like spring onions and just the right amount of dressing. All up one of the best steaks I've had for ages. Hands down beats the Ball and Chain in Hobart! Going back for sure. Great service from very friendly bistro and bar staff too!
