About Girramay National Park

Girramay National Park protects 295 square kilometres of Queensland's Wet Tropics World Heritage Area between the Tully River and Meunga Creek at Rockingham Bay, 1,269 kilometres northwest of Brisbane. The Edmund Kennedy section features lowland rainforest, eucalypt forests, paperbark woodlands and mangrove ecosystems. The endangered southern cassowary and mahogany glider inhabit the park, along with colourful birds including fruit doves, sulphur-crested cockatoos, rainbow lorikeets and forest kingfishers. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, picnicking and beach walks to Wreck Creek mouth, with a day-use area at Rockingham Bay offering views of 13 offshore islands. The park is managed jointly by QPWS and the Girramay Aboriginal people.
