French Island National Park is accessible only by passenger ferry from Stony Point on the mainland (10–12 minutes). Vehicle-based camping is not available, but Fairhaven Campground offers a unique tent camping experience at a 5km walk from Tankerton Jetty on the island's western shoreline. The campground overlooks a sandy beach with exposed mudflats at low tide. Basic toilet facilities are provided; open fires are not permitted. Water supply is not guaranteed, so visitors must be self-sufficient. Book ahead to secure a spot.
