I stayed at Discovery Parks Townsville from 24th May to 2nd June 2026 in a motel room while a family member was in hospital. The visit had no sure end date and the staff at Discovery let me go day by day till checkout which was very much appreciated, I paid a fair price for a good room with all I required, the room was spacious, clean and secure. The rest of the park had good amenities, great van sites and cabins and an awesome pool. It was in a good location with plenty of food and shop options not far away. The staff were friendly and professional. I would stay here anytime, and if you need to be not far from the hospital as I did then its closeby. Thankyou to the staff during my stay you made a stressful time just that bit easier.

We are discovery members doing a huge trip so we have seen many a park. Unfortunately this one wasn't great. 1) location - its LOUD, and bright. We are backed up against an Apol petrol station so its lit up all night. Right on a main highway so cars, trucks all night. Then they are doing construction, I get it, needs to be done. But being woken up at just after 7am with drills and hammers and then diggers at 8am was a painful start. 2) Space. We have a reasonably small van, but the grass spot was tiny and there is basically no space for the cars. 3) Facilities - over space of 3 days the toilets were not cleaned. No soap, no toilet paper. Honestly we couldn't wait to move on and considered leaving early.

THIS IS THE PARK FOR YOU, IF YOU: Enjoy the loud music and the barking dogs of neighbouring homes. Enjoy the noise of motorcycle hoons using the main road in front of the park as an evening road racing track several times a week. Enjoy the sight of ramshackled and messy permanent sites. Want a ridiculously annoying narrow one way road circuit. Want an ensuite site that never gets serviced, with a toilet that needs 2-3 flushes to clear, for $400 a week? Have no ability to have a park issue dealt with after hours, lest you be labelled an annoyance for doing so and directed to leave. Have complaints about a permanent guest ignored, as they'd never been a complaint before! As apparently they can do what they like. Want fabricated accusations made in a effort to justify removing someone from the park. Want a park manager that is a little unpredictable. THEN BEST OF LUCK! Never Again!

We had a lovely 2 night stay in a cabin last weekend. The service we received from the staff was fabulous. They were so accommodating with allowing our ageing golden retriever to stay and a late check-out to work around our sons sport tournament. The cabin was neat, tidy and clean and was close to the sports stadium. We both slept well and didn't hear any noise from the road. We did lots of walks around the park with our dog and found it well maintained, quiet and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Awful campsite - if I could do 0 stars I would!! We stayed here for 2 nights after having previously stayed at multiple discovery parks and really liking them but this place gives discovery parks a bad name and really lets the Big4 chain down. As soon as you first drive in you feel deeply uncomfortable and unsafe due to the permanent residents staring at you and just generally being intimidating and unfriendly. The main issue with this is that a lot of them seem to work there so it doesnβt feel safe to report any of their behaviour. The girl at reception when I checked in on Friday was lovely and helpful but as soon as reception closes itβs a bit of a free for all with swarms of children running wild and the locals getting drunk, screaming and creating a hostile environment. When we first arrived there was a locals car in our spot so reception asked them to move it which he begrudgingly did but then later on that night while we were at our van he came up to us pissed drunk, slurring his words and no trousers on saying we took his car parking spot and made us very uncomfortable. The bathrooms were disgusting with an infestation of bugs (far more than a usual campsite) there were spiders, ants, flies, moths, cockroaches and others I couldnβt even identity, the place was FILTHY. Each morning there were 100βs of dead flies around all the sinks etc. There was no hot or even mildly warm water until our second evening, before that it was ice cold showers. I wouldnβt be one to leave bad reviews but this place is disgusting and more importantly very unsafe and I wouldnβt want anyone to stay there and be in a similar position. Both evenings we went across to Fairfield just to avoid being around the campsite, thatβs how bad it was. Judging by the rest of the reviews management just seem to spit out the same generic response to all bad reviews but even if this stops one person from booking here Iβd be happy.
