Crystal Cascades is a series of freshwater waterfalls and swimming holes in Freshwater Creek's upper reaches near Redlynch, just 25 minutes from Cairns. The rainforest habitat features numerous cascades accessible via a short 1.2-kilometre sealed bitumen walking track taking about 20 minutes to reach the main waterfall. Picnic shelters with electric barbeques and toilet blocks provide basic facilities. Cliff jumping and boulder diving are not permitted due to significant safety risks; five fatalities occurred here within a five-month period in 2014 and two deaths in April 2023.
