About Cradle Mountain

At 1,545 metres elevation, Cradle Mountain in Tasmania's Central Highlands is the sixth-highest peak and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park. The park features ancient rainforests, waterfalls, glacial lakes and alpine moorlands with world-class walking tracks including the legendary 80km Overland Track (5-6 days) and the 6km Dove Lake Great Short Walk (2-3 hours), with opportunities to sight Tasmanian devils, wombats and echidnas.

Worth the drive. Had been raining day before. Fantastic scenery. Good walking tracks, raised and ground level. Saw Wombats. Will come back and stay a few nights next time.

Breathtaking view. Its better if you have 2-3 days for this area to walk and explore. Some plants looks out of this world even some places feels we are in some other planets. Walking here is just healing..

Cradle Mountain is one of the most beautiful places in Tasmania. The landscapes are spectacular with dramatic mountains, peaceful lakes, and excellent walking tracks for all levels. The fresh air, wildlife, and untouched nature make it a truly special place. Definitely a highlight of any Tasmania trip.

Must visit National Park. A variety of walks suitable for all abilities Some paths are narrow, steep and rough. We were glad to have walking poles. Like most Tasmanian parks, well curated and maintained. We were lucky this time with 3 days of perfect weather, which changed to gales and sleet as we drove away.

We had a gorgeous day to see the mountain. Perfect weather. Great shuttlebus system that works well 10-15min wait between buses. Highly recommend this stop.
