About Corella Dam

Corella Dam is located immediately south of the Barkly Highway, fifty kilometres west of Cloncurry in north-western Queensland. The concrete-faced rockfill embankment dam was completed between 1956 and 1957 across the Corella River, when full providing a surface area of 200 hectares with a capacity of 10,500 megalitres. Clem Walton Park below the dam wall features shady trees and grassy banks running to the water's edge, offering free camping, picnicking, fishing, kayaking and overnight stays, with entry via a three-kilometre winding dirt road off the Barkly Highway.
