Carrickalinga Beach on the Fleurieu Peninsula is a lesser-known coastal gem an hour from Adelaide, featuring heart-shaped rockpools, crystalline waters and pure white sand stretching 1.4km. Dolphins swim within 150 metres offshore in calm seas with no rips or undertow, making it ideal for swimming, kayaking, snorkelling and boogie boarding. A nesting area for endangered plovers, the beach offers pristine wilderness with space to roam; weekdays are quieter but come prepared—no services exist until Normanville and no shade.
