Get in your car and turn around and leave straight away. This caravan park was horrific. The tents or cabins which were $300+ night were located 10 to 15 m away from thousands upon thousands of bats that screamed all night long. Or It was lying in the centre of a stadium full of bats screaming. That was quite pleasant compared to the smell of the bats. It was truly a horrific experience. on top of that, the owners of the caravan park provided very few blankets. It was 0°C at night. It was so cold even wearing all your clothes you still froze to death. (I asked them for more blankets but they didn’t have any). Trying to make contact with the owners or the people that ran the caravan park beforehand was ridiculous. They didn’t answer the phone. You leave them so many messages you email them. They never reply. I just cannot believe that they’re still in business. The gas tops in the kitchen were blocked with grease. The sinks in the kitchen leaked water all over the floor. But, The actual gorge was beautiful. Just DO NOT stay at this place. It was awful.

The BIG4 Carnarvon Gorge Holiday Park itself is excellent. The facilities are well-maintained and exactly what you’d hope for in a remote location. A stocked shop, restaurant and bar, camp kitchen, campfire area, and everything you’d need after a long day in the gorge. The grounds and communal areas were clearly well looked after and the staff were great. Also I was surprised how well the Wifi worked everywhere. Unfortunately the cottage was a different story. It was tired, dirty, and well overdue for a renovation. It is a blemish on an otherwise fantastic holiday park. . The bathroom in particular was in such poor condition that my kids were reluctant to use the shower, and I couldn’t blame them. If you’re camping or staying in a more recently updated accommodation, I’d have no hesitation recommending this place. The location and facilities are fantastic and the gorge itself is world-class.

We stayed here to enjoy nature and all the walks in the Canarvon Gorge. We were however disappointed with the caravan park for several reasons. First of all there is no where for grey water to go. It is meant to soak into the soil but simply pools into puddles near most vans. Secondly I’ve never been to a place where it is so far to the dump point. You have to drive from where we stayed to dump. Thirdly while we had to move to another site (something we agreed on when we booked), both sites we stayed at were full of blow flies despite being 100m apart. We also found their rules here a bit over enforced with 10km/h speed limit which is fast walk pace - any faster and staff wave you down to slow something we have never experienced in 100s of parks. Even a little faster. Also you can’t use your fire pit unless it is 30cm off the ground. They should just ban them altogether. We feel maybe our initial thoughts of staying at sandstone park might have been better.

We booked a powered site for our camper trailer for four nights - there was a good discount on offer at the time. The park is great, right on the doorstep of the gorge and all its walks and it is nestled alongside the Carnarvon river. The layout of the campground allowed for plenty of green space amongst the sites, affording a degree of privacy. It wasn’t too densely packed like some other places. Barring there only being one working washing machine, the facilities were generally great. Having the option to dine at the cafe and pick up extra groceries at reception was also great in such a remote location. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

This is the best Big 4 we've stayed at. Much more our style than their usual regimented campgrounds. Natural with good size camp sites. Ours was a bit squeezy to get into but only because of the beautiful trees they've left. Toilets and showers are perhaps a bit on the older side but that meant they were much more spacious! And they are clean with plenty of hot water to relieve the sore muscles from the long walks. Some lovely spots down by the creek to just sit and enjoy. Menu at the restaurant is fairly basic but the food you get is great! Staff are friendly and helpful... lots of very useful information about the whole area.. not just the NP. We've loved our stay here!!
