Situated within Carradah Park on Sydney's Waverton Peninsula in North Sydney, Berrys Bay Lookout overlooks Berrys Bay with unparalleled views of Sydney Harbour, the iconic Harbour Bridge, and Goat Island. The historic site once served as a major 20th-century oil storage facility, but in 1993 BP Australia ceased operations, and in 2005 the land reopened as public parkland. Balls Head Reserve, a nine-hectare bushland sanctuary declared public in 1926, sits adjacent, offering walks and relaxation away from tourist crowds. The lookout provides a perfect vantage point for picnics, photography and watching harbour traffic.

Berryβs Point was an absolute hidden gem, Bradley and I spent time there doing yoga followed by a guided meditation, and it was nothing short of magical. The surroundings were so peaceful and grounding, with a tranquil energy that made it easy to fully switch off and just be present. Every breath felt deeper, every stretch more meaningful, and by the end we both felt completely rejuvenated. Itβs one of those special places that resets your mind and body, you walk away lighter, calmer, and already wanting to return.

I recently spent some time at Berryβs Bay Lookout and itβs one of those spots that quietly reminds you how beautiful Sydney Harbour is without the crowds. The view opens over calm water, boats, and a slice of the city skyline with the Harbour Bridge in the distance. It feels local and relaxed, not touristy. There are a few benches where you can sit and just take it in, especially nice around sunset when the light softens over the bay. Itβs easy to access, peaceful, and perfect if you want a short escape, a thoughtful moment, or a simple picnic. Not a big attraction, but thatβs exactly its charm. A lovely hidden corner of Sydney.

I must say the sunsets here are absolutely stunning; I'd definitely come back if I had the chance. Just be aware that there might be mosquitoes in the evening.

A spacious, uncrowded lookout space. Previous an oil depot, now revitalized into a park. Close enough to see the Sydney harbor bridge in its full dimension.
