Barron Gorge National Park features the iconic Barron Falls—a spectacular 260-metre multi-drop waterfall cascading down granite faces into the gorge—best viewed from Din Din lookout near Kuranda, 40 minutes from Cairns. The falls are at their most dramatic during the wet season (December to March); access via historic Kuranda Scenic Railway or Skyrail provides aerial views through rainforest.

This is a bit of a hidden gem outside Kuranda that was recommended to us by staff at Rainforestation - thank you so much! We drove to the parking area outside of Barron's Gorge and walked on the raised platform footbridge to see the gorgeous and waterfalls. The view of the gorgeous is absolutely astounding! We loved it! We also really enjoyed walking on the footbridge through the thick rainforest. The footbridge is well-maintained and very nice. We walked all the way to the train depot for the best view. Seeing the gorgeous, waterfalls, and rainforest was a highlight of our trip. No cost to enter or park. Thank you!

A waterfall with a grandeur that cannot be felt in photos. Taking the train that departs early in the morning can make your trip more enjoyable. Cable cars are nothing special.
