Great to see in person, we went in July so not much water, but you can physically see how much velocity of water would come down these falls, great place to stop along the way when on the skyrail.

Iβve visited Barron Falls a few times while riding the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, first as a six year old, then with my nana on a family trip to Cairns, and most recently around Christmas 2023. Every visit has been a little different depending on the weather, but seeing the falls after heavy rain is something Iβll never forget. Barron Falls is one of the stops along the Skyrail, after boarding the cable car, you can either admire the waterfall from above as you glide past or hop off at the station and explore the boardwalks. Iβd definitely recommend getting off if you have the time because seeing the falls up close is so much more impressive than just looking out from the gondola. On my most recent visit, my friend and I wandered through the boardwalks and spent quite a while watching the water thunder over the cliffs. There had been plenty of rain leading up to our trip, so the waterfall was absolutely pouring down the mountainside. It was one of those sights where you can stand there for ages just listening to the water and taking it all in. The viewing area has been really well designed, with several different platforms spread throughout the boardwalk so people can find different angles of the falls and surrounding rainforest. It can get a little crowded when a few cable cars arrive at once, but most visitors only stop for a few minutes before continuing up to Kuranda, so it never felt too difficult to find a spot to enjoy the view. Along the boardwalk there are also displays explaining the local environment, as well as a few other lookout points over the rainforest and along the cableway itself. Itβs worth taking your time rather than rushing straight back onto the next gondola because thereβs quite a bit to see around the station. One thing to keep in mind is that the viewing platforms are really the only safe place to experience the falls. The surrounding rocks and cliffs would be incredibly slippery and dangerous, especially after rain, so itβs definitely a place where itβs best to stick to the paths and enjoy the scenery from the lookouts. Barron Falls is easily one of the highlights of the Skyrail journey for me. Whether you admire it from the cable car or spend some time exploring the boardwalks, itβs an incredible reminder of just how beautiful Far North Queenslandβs rainforest can be. If youβre visiting Cairns and taking the Skyrail, Iβd definitely recommend hopping off here instead of staying on the gondola the whole way. Itβs well worth taking the extra time.

Barron Falls was recommended to us by a staff member at Rainforestation. Thank you! We absolutely loved seeing the falls, walking on the raised boardwalk through the rainforest to the train depot, and taking in the beautiful nature and scenery. What a unique experience for us this was to enjoy viewing the falls and gorge. There was no cost to enter the rainforest or view the falls and gorge, so this was another plus. Such a great experience!

Beautiful views, not much water when we visited in December the 13th 2025. However the surroundings are amazing. Many walks and trekking paths you can do around.

Barron Gorge is a wonderful location where you could see both tropical and subtropical nature. Barron Falls is pretty big even though we were there at the end of winter, in March, there was enough of water. Locals say that in rain season the waterfalls look absolutely stunning. It is great to walk towards the sightseeing spots - there is a lot of interesting nature over there and, as you see the Barron Falls, you understand it was worth going there. Great place, great location and very impressive waterfalls.
